Walking blind dog Teddy

After surgery for non-cancerous tumors in the head and glaucoma in the eyes, dog Teddy no longer has vision. After fully recovering, Teddy still enjoys walking outside immensely. Owner Orlaith bought a dog stroller for her blind dog, so he can always go with her.

Teddy is not Orlaith’s only dog. Daisy is Teddy’s ‘guide dog’ in a way. Daisy helps Teddy find his way inside the house and outside while walking. To give Daisy a chance to take a decent walk too, Orlaith bought a dog pram for Teddy.

Smells and sounds

Hearing, smelling and feeling are the new seeing when you are blind. As a blind dog, Teddy enjoys all the interesting sounds and smells extra much. With nose in the air, he sits in his dog stroller. In unfamiliar places, it can be difficult for Teddy to navigate, even with Daisy’s help. The dog pram keeps him safe in such cases. Even in locations with a lot of pedestrian traffic, such as the market, the dog stroller is a safe place. The blind dog can still take in the smells and sounds, there’s no more chance of a pedestrian accidentally tripping over him.

Glens and uneven pavement

Orlaith and her dogs Teddy and Daisy live in a city with lots of uneven pavement. Driving a dog pram over cobblestones and bumpy paths can be a challenge. The first dog stroller Orlaith bought was simple and had small plastic wheels. On the uneven pavement, the wheels of the buggy made a racket and Teddy was shaking up and down. Besides, the trio enjoys going for walks through the glens her home country, Ireland, has to offer. The old buggy proved unsuitable for this.

When Orlaith started looking for a new dog stroller for her blind dog Teddy, it had to meet 3 requirements. The buggy had to have three wheels for good manoeuvrability. The wheels should not be made of hard plastic. The weight capacity had to be high enough to carry both Daisy and Teddy. This is how she ended up with the InnoPet Comfort EFA Eco.

The stroller is easily hosed down”

So pleased with it, she bought two

With the InnoPet Comfort EFA, Orlaith and the dogs can trod through the muddy valley with ease. Even the town’s cobbled pavement is easy to manage. For daily walks close to home, there is a Comfort EFA buggy at home. And for outdoor walks, there is also a Comfort EFA dog stroller in the back of the car. For blind dog Teddy this is of course a godsend, because he can always come along for a walk even if it wasn’t planned in advance.

Walking through the glen with the dog buggy makes it muddy and dirty. No problem, as Orlaith herself says: “the stroller is easily hosed down”. After a wet ride, it is important to dry the buggy thoroughly to avoid rust and squeaky wheels.

The only thing Orlaith is missing from the InnoPet Comfort EFA Eco is a cup holder. Online, she found universal cupholders that fit any buggy.
